Magazine Layout-Dispersion Effect

EU: Designers work using a grid system when designing layouts for publications to successfully combine imagery and typography (three type levels).

EQ: How can you create a dispersion effect in Photoshop and successfully use that design within a magazine layout to promote a specific subject matter. 

Unit: Publishing Design

Assignment: (2 Grades)

Grade 1: Using an original or internet image, create a dispersion effect to be used withing a magazine layout

Grade 2: Using a grid system, design a layout to complement and work alongside your your image by sketching out your plan

Grade 3: Design your layout on the computer using Photoshop and/or Illustrator

*along with grid systems we will also be looking at text using the character palette in Illustrator as well as text wraps

Your design must Include:

  • Grid System
  • Design effects
  • Dispersion Image
  • Page numbers
  • Magazine Name
  • Article title
  • Highlight areas
  • Text boxes
  • at least one text wrap
  • at least one additional image
