Check out this video: How to Create Infographics Part 1
Steps:
- Decide on a topic
- Narrow the topic down to a specific focus
- Start researching and gathering information (keep a word doc with the sites you have used for research as you go so that you can site them at the bottom of your design later)
- Take the information you have gathered and break it up into categories or groups
- Start sketching a visual idea to be created in Illustrator
- Develop ideas for small icons through your research which can be used in your design
- Sketch a layout for the entire graphic which shows your visuals, a title, and the information placement as well as a specific size
- Start Designing
- Choose a color theme (stick to it throughout for a cohesive look)
- Make sure to use grid theory (like your magazine) and alignment
- You may use Photoshop only to add fx to text or to a texture into the design
Assessment: (2 Project Grades)
You will be graded on the research (layout and icon sketch, google docs information and citations) as well as the overall design
- Brainstorm/Sketch
- Research
- Creativity
- Software/Design
